The site in question is remotedatacentre.net, it doesn’t have a huge amount of searches, but I saw an opportunity for a site with a decent enough CPC and no competition. The key factor in ranking this site so quickly is that it is aimed at the Indian market (for some reason, all of my sites that are aimed at an Indian audience rank on the first page within a few days). I have one other site that is aimed at India and it ranked at number 10 the very same day that I launched it. I have no idea why this is but I’m happy I discovered it. It is the sole reason I was so sure this site would do so well, decent CPC, decent number of monthly searches and no competition = MONEHS!!!
Here is the step-by-step on choosing a profitable niche market:
Step 1 – Choosing an Idea
I like to start by writing a list of 5 things that I am interested in at that moment in time, here is the list that I made:
Now the reasons for these things being on my list are as follows:
Blogging – I enjoy writing and want to write for an audience, I write for several blogs and co-own a ridiculously successful site about being successful with women in college. I want to create a blog by myself that I have complete control over, so if you’re reading this, that means I’ve done it. YAY!
Data Center – I have recently been working in the telecommunications industry and know that there is a lot of money in data centers, the competition is ridiculous though and could take a couple of years to get anywhere. I have also noticed in my research that nobody seems to know if it is spelt center or centre. (we will take advantage of this fact later on)
Football – If you’re reading from America then we’re talking soccer here. I love the NFL too but it is the start of the English Premier League season this weekend so it is high on my priorities, I also write for a football blog and have been privy to some of the money that is available in this niche market.
Driving Lessons – I am currently learning to drive and have seen a lot of products related to this area, could be a good little affiliate site if you can find a decent keyword. (since writing this I have actually found 2 really good keywords in this niche market and with exact domain matches, so have bought them up for a project for when I have a bit more time).
Hedgehogs – When I first started out in Internet Marketing (around 6 months ago), I created a hedgehog site, it makes me a few dollars every month but is buried somewhere on the 6th page of Google. I think there is some money in exotic pets and will consider either refreshing my current site or focusing on a new one.
With the help of Google Keyword Tool (check out my guide here!), I typed in these 5 words exactly as they are typed above and saw the results. Immediately due to competition/ poor searches or low CPC I saw that data center was the way to go. Lots of searches, hundreds of niches and I saw a small potential window to make some MONEHS! (which is what this is all about).
With the choices narrowed down to 1 niche market, I began my aggressive assault to rule it.
I type data center into keyword tool, there is way too much competition so I try the alternate spelling of data centre. The results are much more to my liking but still a little high, however I know there must be a niche in this area that nobody else has found yet (or at least only a few people have found that are not as good at internet marketing as me).
I type data centre into Google and do a little research, I am looking for anything that is a little different, on a few of the results descriptions I see the word remote so give it a try.
Here are the results:
As you can see the results are okay, there is some money here, and I want it. (the competition is high because I took these screen shots after I launched my site, the green bar was non-exixtent before I did so).
You will notice that the local results (which is set to United Kingdom) are less than 10 per month so I need to find out where the searches are coming from (as CPC can differ wildly depending on the region). This is where Google insights come in.
This shows me that pretty much all of the searches come from India, from experience I know that a lot of sites in India that rely on Adsense fail due to really low CPC (around the 1p mark most days) but let’s check it anyway.
Simply change your location to India (or whatever it says on insights) and you see the CPC drops dramatically, however it is still a nice little monthly cash source for very little work, so I will go with it.
Then I need to check that I can buy a good domain name to target this keyword (if you can get the exact one then that is great, but not necessary). I go to Namecheap and type in my keyword, most of the time your keyword will be taken (especially if it is a good one) but if not buy it IMMEDIATELY! (I hate when I go back to buy it and it has gone). If it is taken it won’t be too much harder to rank if you add an e- to the front of it or an hq to the end of it like Pat Flynn did with his niche site.
The next and final step of my research is equally as simple, simply download some form of web browser seo tool, I use SEO Quake with Google Chrome but you can get it for pretty much every browser. And type you keyword into Google, it will show you various details about each site that comes up, such as Google page rank and number of links etc.
I don’t let the number of links bother me too much because I am confident that I can match or better the number and quality of back-links that they have. If the majority of page ranks on the first page are 3 or below I’ll buy the domain and set about creating the site.
Let me know what you think about my niche market, will I do well in it? Do you do things a little differently? Lets get some ideas flowing.

Super jaezzd about getting that know-how.
Great site. Finding it very hard to come up with the right niche though.
