Creating a theme with Artisteer is ridiculously easy, there are somewhere around a bajillion options on ways to customize things, but the aim here is to get you a high converting wordpress theme, so I will tell you the essential parts to my themes and let you play around with the rest by yourself.
The only things we are going to concentrate on are things that will affect your conversion rate, so here’s what you do:
Make sure that your article has a white background. Sheet width should be 900px, these options can be found in the sheet tab.
Text should be black.
Make a professional looking header (if you aren’t good at graphic design, ask me and I might knock something up for you if I have the time)
Position your menu above your header.
Have a small space between your header and your article sections (I am currently experimenting with this part as you might notice on some of my sites).
When inserting adsense blocks make sure you position it within your posts at the top left or top right, try both and see what converts best for you.
With the adsense colors, make sure that you use (google blue) they have spent million testing which colors make people click more s take advantage of that fact. (hex color is 1111CC). The rest of it should just be black text with white background.
Your layout should have 2 columns, 1 main central column and a second 300px width sidebar on the right.
Make sure that you remove tags, date, category and author in both the header and footer sections. These options are in the article menu.
As long as you do all of this your page should convert well, the rest, colors and stuff is all just personal preference.
When you are done save the file so you can easily make changes if you want to and then export it as a wordpress theme and BOOM DONE!
If you’re lazy or just want to check out what the theme looks like that I created for this tutorial then I have uploaded the file for you to check out, you can upload it straight to your site, warning though, it’s not a very sexy theme, it just has the bits edited that I told you about in this article, everything else is randomly generated by Artisteer.
